This is how we do it

As many of you already know, I've helped hundreds of South African clients over the last few years.

In fact, I'm pretty confident that I have more South African clients than any other Financial Advisor in Ireland.

I thank you all for placing your trust in me and I look forward to helping in any way possible going forward.

Here is how I do it!!

For some clients, we first speak after they arrive in Ireland and get settled.

But for many, we have an initial chat before they even make the move over here.

From experience, here's what seems to work best:

First of all, get in contact with me either by Messenger, email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call +353862422441.

  1. We'll have an initial call to go over your basic details, understand your circumstances and get to know each other. This is so important as no 2 families are the same, hence why we design policies specifically to meet your needs.
  2. Have a meeting (we can do this on Zoom if that suits you) to design your cover to meet your family requirements. Hopefully by the end of the meeting you'll have a clear idea of what you need and why you need it. Importantly you’ll get a full understanding of the proposed policies and how they work.
  3. I'll follow up with an informative email breaking everything down in plain English that we discussed in our meeting.
  4. When you are happy with the options, contact me and arrange to run through the application together. It's important to get the info right and it's easier than filling out the forms yourself.
  5. We'll key in the details into the relevant insurance companies and we'll receive the underwriting requirements for you.It is important to understand that underwriting can take time - especially if the insurers need medical records from your doctor in South Africa. In some cases, the insurers will require a HIV test to be completed, this can often be done by a nurse, they will come to your home at a convenient time for you.
  6. Once the underwriting is complete, we receive a decision and will contact you with your acceptance terms.
  7. We'll send you your policy documents as soon as they are processed. We will give you full instructions on how to claim back any tax relief (Income Protection) by email, I’ll also always be here to help as always.
  8. We usually like to have a chat at least once a year to make sure that what you have continues to meet your needs.

If you haven't moved to Ireland yet, here's a quick tip to make your life a little easier when you get here:

Speak to your doctor before you leave SA and get a copy of your medical records to bring over with you.

This will be useful for your new GP to have in order to understand your medical history.

It will also usually speed up the process of taking out life insurance, specified serious illness / dread disease cover or income protection cover when you get settled in Ireland.

If I can be of any help going forward, please feel free to PM me or contact me on the details below.

Kind regards,

Danny Coad QFA
