cervical-screening

In Ireland, every woman is entitled to a cervical check every two years. All you have to do is register on the HSE website, it’s a simple process (you do have to have a PPS number)

They will send out a letter which contains your cervical check number, you quote this when you book or go for it.

I am lucky enough that our local little doctors rooms have a nurse who does these.

Due to covid I could have one before May, but when I called I got an appointment within three days.

The nurse was a female, and just lovely, she was extremely thorough.

Due to having extremely heavy periods she has referred me for an ultrasound just to check that everything is ok, and also mentioned that as soon as my period starts if I’m having a rough time with pain to give the practice a call and ask for her, she will organise some decent pain meds for me.

I can’t take ibuprofen as it affects my chest extremely adversely, and we all know how difficult it is to get your hands on codeine. 🙂

I will get my results in about three weeks.

I walked out and that was that. I was in and out within 20 minutes and the whole experience couldn’t have been better.

This was done publicly, so no charge. Just a beautiful example of our taxes being put to good use.
